RAPID-EXIT MILKING PARLOURS

Efficient Milking and Animal Flow for Goat and Sheep Operations

As herd sizes increase into the 100 to 250 animal range, many farms transition to milking parlour systems to improve animal flow, milking efficiency, and overall throughput.

System capacity is determined by the number of milking positions and overall workflow, with layouts designed to reduce labour requirements and complete milking within an efficient time frame.

Rapid exit milking parlour systems are designed to improve milking efficiency and animal flow in dairy goat and sheep operations. Built for reliable throughput and consistent performance, these systems allow producers to streamline milking routines while reducing labour requirements.

Our rapid exit milking parlour stalling systems can be operated by a single person, with throughput of approximately 300 to 350 animals per hour, or 400 to 500 animals with two operators. Individual sequencing gates allow animals to load themselves in the correct order, while non-return feed pans encourage quick exit once milking is complete.

Automatic headlocks hold each animal in place, providing proper udder presentation for milking. Stall dimensions are specifically designed for small ruminant morphology, helping prevent unwanted movement during milking while maintaining animal comfort and consistency.

These systems are built with durable, low-maintenance construction and are available in multiple sizes. They can also be expanded as herd sizes increase or as shorter milking times become necessary. Rapid exit parlours are typically recommended for herds ranging from 100 to 750 animals

Available Parlour Configurations

Rapid exit parlour systems are configured based on the number of milking positions and overall system layout.

The size of the parlour directly impacts throughput, labour efficiency, and total milking time. By increasing the number of milking positions and optimizing animal flow, larger groups of animals can be milked more efficiently within a targeted time frame. For many operations, the goal is to complete milking within a consistent and manageable time window, making system sizing an important part of overall farm efficiency.

System configuration also influences labour requirements, with larger parlours allowing more animals to be milked per cycle while maintaining efficient operator workflow. This helps reduce overall labour time and improve consistency across each milking.

Systems can be configured to match your current herd size, with the flexibility to expand as your operation grows. Additional milking positions can be added over time, allowing you to increase throughput without replacing your entire system.
